Ustaz Syed Ahmad Bin Syed Mohamed is a highly respected Singapore Kadi and former Registrar of Muslim Marriages (ROMM), recognised for his decades of service in Muslim marriage solemnisation, family law administration, and community leadership. As one of Singapore’s foremost experts in Muslim family law, he has played a significant role in strengthening Muslim marriages, improving marriage support programmes, and guiding thousands of couples through their Akad Nikah and marriage journey.

Ustaz Syed Ahmad began his public service career with the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) in 1980 and later served as President of the Syariah Court from 1993 to 1995 before returning to MUIS in senior leadership roles. In 2005, he was appointed Registrar of Muslim Marriages, becoming the third person to hold the position following the enactment of the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA). He served as Registrar for 14 years, overseeing important developments in Muslim marriage administration and family support initiatives in Singapore.

During his tenure at ROMM, Ustaz Syed Ahmad championed efforts to strengthen marriage preparation and family resilience among Muslim couples. He played a key role in initiatives such as Bersamamu, which provides continued guidance and mentorship to newly married couples during the early years of marriage. His leadership also helped expand support programmes for younger couples and those considered at higher risk of marital challenges.

Even after stepping down as Registrar, Ustaz Syed Ahmad continued serving the community as a Kadi and ad hoc President of the Syariah Court. His extensive experience, deep understanding of Muslim family law, and longstanding contributions to marriage development have earned him widespread respect within Singapore’s Malay Muslim community. Couples seeking an experienced Singapore Kadi for their Malay Muslim wedding can look to his legacy of professionalism, guidance, and commitment to building strong Muslim families.
